Looking to create truly minimalist landscapes

I'm always striving to keep
my imagery...

CLEAN. SIMPLE.

A Little Story

I had heard from another landscape photographer who actually lived quite close to this place where I shot this image, that I might find it an interesting place to visit!
He shoots in colour and didn't really like much that he saw but knew I might like it. He knew that I like shapes, textures, form and atmosphere in my photographs.

I had been to this place, Lepe Country Park in Hampshire before, but I had gone West from the car park and he suggested I go East this time!

He was right! After a 10 minute walk along the coast heading to the entrance to the Southampton port, I saw the structures my friend had suggested I take a look at.

THE DOLPHINS AT LEPE STUDY

The structures in the background are all that's left of a jetty that was used in June 1945 to load troops onto boats to take part in 'D Day' on the Normandy beaches. These structures are actually called 'The Dolphins'. In the foreground are all that's left of other smaller jetties.

My approach to this shoot was to ensure that the actual structures themselves stood out as clearly as they could. I didn't want any distractions in the compositions and I made sure that both the sea and clouds were photographed as simply as I could.

Here are a couple more images from this fantastic couple of hours I spent along this shoreline!
