I was concentrating on keeping this composition as simple as possible and tried to avoid including people enjoying the surf on their boards and swimming. As I set up at a different part of the beach, the surf got better and better and then, very suddenly, this young surfer appeared out of  the surf as if from nowhere and I took this image!

Sometimes including a person adds to the image and scale and I'm particularly happy with both of the images I came away with. On a separate note, I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder which took me quite by surprise as the beach was vast and as I was concentrating so hard on photography, and the boy's mother asked if she could get a copy as she had been trying in vain all morning to get one!

I created this final image with a canvas texture on it to create a fine art image.
